We’ve had a lot of enquiries from women wondering what to take as this is an important time to ensure that you are getting enough of the right nutrients. The products to look out for here are Complex Green, Complex Berry, Pea Protein+ (which has a calcium formula in it) and Multi-mineral Green Calcium Powder– subject to checking with your medical professional. Complex Green (CG) and Complex Berry (CB) are both able to be taken, interchangeably. The Pea Protein+ has a smaller calcium formula inside it, so you don’t need to double up on both if you regularly taking the Pea Protein, or again you can mix and match as they are slightly different in profile as the Calcium powder is focussed. The Pea Protein+ and the Calcium are both 100% plant formulas.)
Pregnancy requires Folic Acid, Vit D, Calcium, Vit E, Riboflavin, Thiamine, Vit C, Niacin, B12, Iron, Zinc, and Iodine. These are all in the superfood formulas. It is important not to take too much Vit A supplements as it can cause birth defects if taken in excess of 3000ugRE. Complex Green and Complex Berry are 150ugRE per dose. The recommended daily amount of Vit A from all sources is 700ugRE for women and 900ugRE for men. A daily dose of 150ug for adults of selenium from dietary supplements should not be exceeded. These products are 20ug per dose. It would take 4 to 5 servings of the CG CB formulas to be an overdose for pregnancy. This would be similar for lactation. The great thing about taking these products during this time is the digestibility and also so you don’t get caught out on the run and hungry, which is not recommended. The pea protein is also safe, particularly the vanilla one as it doesn’t have caffeine. It is a good way to ensure that your bones and the growing bones are protected. The CB and CG are nearly caffeine free, but not quite as they do feature a tiny bit of green tea.
Take 1-2 serves of Complex Green/ Complex Berry plus 1-2 serves of Pea Protein+ (vanilla) and/or 1- serves of Green Calcium.
